Search for work from home jobs and most of what comes back is a scam, a data entry fee, or an MLM. These seven are real job boards.
Read the last section before applying anywhere, including these.
Remote OK Large, fast-moving, heavily tech. The highest volume of the seven and the easiest to browse without an account.
We Work Remotely One of the oldest remote boards. Fewer listings than Remote OK, generally better filtered.
Remotive Curated rather than aggregated. Smaller list, less noise per listing.
Working Nomads Aggregates from multiple sources and sends a category-wise mailing list. Useful if you would rather be notified than search.
FlexJobs Screens every listing before publishing, which is why it charges a subscription. The screening is the product. Whether it is worth paying for depends on how much time you are losing to fake listings elsewhere.
PowerToFly Focused on women in tech and on companies with stated diversity commitments. Also runs hiring events rather than only listings.
myAvtar Indian platform, focused on women returning to work after a career break. The most India-relevant of the seven and the one most likely to list roles that match Indian experience and salary expectations.
Six of the seven are built around a global, largely US and European employer base. That has two consequences worth knowing before you spend a week applying.
Many listings are region-restricted even when the role is remote, and the restriction is often stated far down the posting. Check location eligibility before writing an application.
Pay is usually quoted in dollars or euros, and roles open to Indian applicants are frequently contract rather than employment, which means no provident fund, no gratuity, and tax you handle yourself.
A real employer never asks you to pay to be hired.
Registration fees, training fees, security deposits, kit charges, and buying software before you start are all the same thing wearing different names. If money moves from you to them before your first day, it is not a job.
